This is a very simplistic view that completely ignores recent developments in the areas of animal rights and the rights of nature, not to mention rights theory. Even in the United States, there are at least 12 jurisdictions that have promulgated pedestrian rights for delivery robots operating on sidewalks. This is not science fiction; these are rights that exist on the books right now. You should consider familiarizing yourself with both the literature and jurisprudence on personhood and rights for non-humans. It’s a lot more complex than you allege. FWIW, my book, which deals with these issues in a linear fashion, is available for free via open access from the publisher.
